Happy Easter!

Happy Easter to everyone!!!

It is our first holiday away from our family and it's hard to be away. However, Finland still celebrates Easter so we managed to find ways to have our own celebrations.

Maddy and I built a snowman on Easter morning. Yeah, that's right, a snowman. While the rest of you Canadian folk were working on your tans, we were playing in the snow. Who's laughing now? Probably you. But nonetheless we had a good time. It mostly consisted of Maddy watching me do everything, which is why it turned out as one ugly snowman - I'm not the most creative. Andrew felt it was necessary to come take a picture of it, so if I figure out how to post pictures, I will share the Conley Snowman with you.

While we were outside, Andrew was in the house with the Easter bunny planting chocolate eggs around the house. As much as it sucks not having our things arrive yet, I have to admit it was much easier to spot the eggs when the house is empty!!! She had a good time with it. We also tried some traditional Finnish food, mammi, which is an Easter pudding. It consists of malt, rye flour and something else. We tried it at Jussi's house, and it is not good.

Missing the turkey but mostly the cherry cheesecake. I hope the Myderwyk clan had a nice dinner today. Hopefully Bella feels better soon so that she can see her cousins while everybody is down.

On another note, I think I have the laundry situation figured out. Most Finnish people do not have dryers, and they also feel the need to have the washing cycle last approximately two hours. When Anita and Jussi were in Canada, they were surprised the cycle only lasted 20 minutes, at which point Anita was handwashing all the clothes because she felt the clothes were still dirty. We, on the other hand, thought we were doing something terribly wrong when we ran our first cycle and it lasted two hours!!!! We also had to learn how to use fabric softener in the wash, since the clothes were drying sorta crunchy and not very soft. Now we have it all figured out!!!!

Going to finish my dinner. Hope all is well. Happy Easter!!!
Kim
