School Update

Maddy has completed her first three weeks of school and things are going....okay. We started out with crying in the house, car, and at school. We're now up to whining in the house and car, and crying at school. An improvement? I'd say so.

The teachers say she is getting more comfortable and has started associating with the other children. Mostly the girls in the older group, as they speak better English than the kids in her own class. She is also a bit apprehensive of their food, as she has said many times she doesn't like to eat breakfast at school, and also accuses them of putting "dirt in her soup". A tall tale, I hope.

The school is getting a chuckle out of Maddy, though. It appears she likes to take the eggs out of the playkitchen before naptime and smuggle them under her blanket. When it's time to wake up, they find the eggs all nice and toasty underneath her, like a little hen.

It's been tempting to keep her home with Charlie and I on the days she's being difficult, but we know this is the best thing for her and will keep hoping that it gets easier and more enjoyable for her.

Rolling Over!

Not quite three and a half months old, and Charlie is now rolling over from back to belly. That's my boy!!!!!

Playschool

So Maddy turned 3 while we were in Canada and she had a wonderful birthday party celebration. We found out two days before we left that she had been accepted to an English speaking playschool in the area on a full-time basis and started on January 10th.

Her first day was fabulous, she couldn't be more excited about all the things she did......

And then she realized that she has to start going to school every day. And this does not make her happy. Literally bringing her to school in the morning kicking and screaming. I know it will take some adjustment but it's breaking my heart. I hope for her sake, and my own, that she starts to enjoy school soon.

Or perhaps she's smarter than all of us and has realized after only one short day that school is evil?

Happy New Year!!!

Well, we're back. We survived our Canada trip. It was an exhausting trip but it was wonderful to see all of our family and friends. Surprisingly not much has changed since we moved away, except all the grandbabies are a bit bigger.

Our trip was too busy, we fit in too many activities and visits and spent too much time on the road. Our next trip in July will be much more relaxed.

The kids did a wonderful job on the flight, we are happy to say they are good travellers. It is a relief since we have a lot of travel plans in the near future.

New Year's Resolution - be happy! Enjoy my kids! Enjoy my husband! Enjoy my experience in Europe!

I hope 2011 brings you all that you hope for.

It's a beautiful day.
