Maddy has completed her first three weeks of school and things are going....okay. We started out with crying in the house, car, and at school. We're now up to whining in the house and car, and crying at school. An improvement? I'd say so.
The teachers say she is getting more comfortable and has started associating with the other children. Mostly the girls in the older group, as they speak better English than the kids in her own class. She is also a bit apprehensive of their food, as she has said many times she doesn't like to eat breakfast at school, and also accuses them of putting "dirt in her soup". A tall tale, I hope.
The school is getting a chuckle out of Maddy, though. It appears she likes to take the eggs out of the playkitchen before naptime and smuggle them under her blanket. When it's time to wake up, they find the eggs all nice and toasty underneath her, like a little hen.
It's been tempting to keep her home with Charlie and I on the days she's being difficult, but we know this is the best thing for her and will keep hoping that it gets easier and more enjoyable for her.
