Well, we survived! A trip of a lifetime!!!! The kids did really well, we saw some spectacular things, we had a great visit with Rose and Adam, and made memories that will last a lifetime (well, Andrew and I did...not sure the kids will remember).
We arrived back from Oslo on our 8 year anniversary, and had one day to pick up Tucker from the kennel, clean the house, mow the lawn, get groceries, etc. before Rose and Adam got here. Had a great visit with them in Finland, it was fun to show them around our neck of the woods and also have some relaxing time. Nora and Calvin arrived the night before Rose left, and spent the weekend here before venturing off to St Petersburg for the week. We'll pick them up on Friday for another fun-packed weekend.
At some point I will comment on each of the cities and post up pictures, but for now let me leave you with this:
- Andrew was a mule in his former life. I have never seen one individual manage to carry so many things at once.
- Don't tell your 3 year old that her ears are going to pop on the airplane. They are likely not old enough to understand the figure of speech.
- Don't buy your 3 year old a container of Smarties in the airport and let her open them herself...
- There is a McDonald's in every single city in Europe so it seems. And Maddy wanted to eat at every single one of them.
- I should really learn to drink coffee. I wonder how I get by.
- I've never been so happy to see conditioner. Spending 3 weeks using only 2-in-1 shampoo is AWFUL!
- Andrew gave me the best 8-year anniversary present ever. I wonder what he will do next year to top this one...
It's a beautiful day.
