For a country who is so child-friendly with their zillions of parks, potties in every washroom, wide sidewalks for strollers, and free public transportation for parents with kids, I am shocked to find that the car seat laws seem to be lacking so much.
When we first moved to Finland, I had a hard time finding any information on whether Maddy's car seat from Canada was sufficient. Turns out there aren't really any laws, it's more like suggestions.
And it has happened a few times that I've seen young children sitting in the front seat of vehicles. This past week was the worst though. I pulled into the mall parking garage and beside me was a father and a son, the child being no more than a couple months older than Charlie. Sitting in a forward facing car seat. IN THE FRONT SEAT! After the dad left, I snuck a peek into his car and saw that his entire back seat was empty. What are these people thinking????
