Once every ten years, Holland has the World Horticultural Expo exhibition and luckily it took place this year. It was in Venlo, a fair drive from my aunt and uncle's house, but thought it was an experience to have.
It is held for six months and estimates to have over 2 million visitors over this time period. The elaborate garden exhibits are all held in this 110-acre Floriade park, which will later be used as a green business park.
Andrew and I are not major gardening people but it was fun to walk around and see the exhibits. We definitely enjoyed the orchid house, where we attempted to guess which ones were nice or not, and then compare our scores to those of the judges. Yeah, we have absolutely no idea what we're looking for. We also got to watch a tribal dance show, which Maddy really enjoyed. And had some poffertjes for a snack (mini pancakes with icing sugar, fabulous!), which the kids absolutely adored.
After going to Keukenhof, it's hard to appreciate flower gardens that much, but the day was really fun.
